Turnkey and Consignment
Altek Electronics provides flexibility in the outsourcing process by offering contract-manufacturing services on a consignment, turnkey or hybrid basis.
Definitions:
- Consignment – Customer provides all of the material needed to build the product in a form suitable for machine assembly
- Turnkey – Altek procures all of the material needed to build your PCB assembly
- Hybrid – Customer supplies selected parts and Altek procures the balance of the material
For Consignment Assembly
Oftentimes as customers are prototyping circuit boards, they choose to procure the material and provide it to their supplier. Altek can accommodate this approach. Surface mount material should be provided on reels, in tubes or trays, or on cut tape with 18” of leader for loading onto the machine. We prefer to have bare boards panelized with ¼” or ½” rails on each side. Locate four non-plated tooling holes at each corner of the board, 0.125 diameter and 0.25” from each side. The rails should be scored with a 30-degree cutter top and bottom with a resulting web of 0.012”. Scoring may go to panel edge but not through the tooling holes or fiducial pads. Altek can produce a panel drawing for you after receipt of the gerber files and fabrication drawing.
For Turnkey Assembly
For customers who are not in need of a prototype PCB, the decision is often made to outsource the procurement, inspection, stocking and kitting of the material to the supplier. At Altek, we provide turnkey contract manufacturing services to 90% of our customers. We negotiate the best possible material prices and lead times with our suppliers, and we hold inventory for up to 12 months to afford flexibility in your delivery schedule.
